✰ We were challenged to make a piece of art under 6 inches for an exhibit at a college. I thought of a small wire mannequin. I immediately regretted that choice as soon as I started, due to my hatred for working with wire. It was too complex for me to work with, as well as infuriating to bend since it poked me all the time. The balsa foam pole looks shabby and is bent. I believe the color is gross too. I don't really like this piece that much, but I still tried my best to put together what I could from my thoughts. Thus, making it past my standards to be on my portfolio. I put a weeks worth of work into this, and I won't let it go unnoticed! ✰
Themed Project 1: Pastel Mobile
✰ I first started with the embroidery hoop. I painted it the shade of purple I wanted and waited for it to dry. Then I began to string the thread onto the hoop in a way that it would hold the butterflies as well as keep the hoop balanced. I had to do a lot of balancing, cutting, and tying, but eventually I got it to be somewhat straight and balanced. After that, I started folding the butterflies. I used origami paper I bought. During the weekend, I went to my dads and asked for help creating the stand. We bent and sanded a piece of metal, then painted it and stuck it in a hole we drilled through the wooden base. After bringing it to school, I hung the hoop onto it, and started adding the flowers onto it. I had problems hanging the butterflies because they wouldn’t stay upright. But I got it eventually. After that, I just painted the wooden base purple, then I was done. ✰
Themed Project 2: Cotton Candy Girl
⭐︎This is a Multi-Media piece, made using paint and ink. It was fairly easy and simple, so there's not much to say about it.⭐︎
Themed Project 3: Paper Daffodil
⭐︎ I made this out of paper cups and paper straws. I tried to make it as pastel as I could but the green was limiting me. ⭐︎
Themed Project 4: Pastel Botanist
⭐︎ I made this on my iPad using procreate, the app I use for all my drawings. The brushes I used: 6B Pencil for sketching, and the Studio Pen Brush. I did not add shadows because I wanted to keep the simplicity and pastel look to it. It's not the best, but its not horrible either so I'm proud of it. The face looks a bit off, due to the size of the eyes and the almost invisible mouth and nose. But I will use these as learning experiences. ⭐︎
